My Align & Unwind Yoga Retreat at The Vedanta in Lincolnshire was a beautiful blend of mindful movement, deep relaxation, and connection—exactly what we all need from time to time. Designed to balance dynamic, movement-based principles with restful, restorative practices, this weekend offered the perfect reset for both body and mind.
I was especially excited about this retreat because I invited Chloe to teach alongside me, bringing the complementary practice of Pilates into the mix. Her Classical Pilates approach, with its structured and precise movements, provided the perfect contrast to my more contemporary style of yoga in Derby. This combination gave our attendees a well-rounded experience, blending strength, alignment, and flow.
One of the standout moments of the weekend was Debs’ mindfulness session, which was, as expected, a huge hit. The feedback was incredible, with participants saying things like, “Wow, I really didn’t think that’s what mindfulness was—I truly get it now!” Seeing those lightbulb moments was so rewarding, and it reinforced just how powerful mindfulness can be in our everyday lives. Over the weekend, we noticed such an improvement in meditation practices—what started as a challenge on the first session soon became much more natural and fluid after Debs' workshop.
Movement, Props & Deepening Practice
One of the most interesting sessions of the weekend was our 'props' class, where we used blocks, straps, and other supportive tools to refine our yoga and Pilates practice. This session was a real eye-opener for many, with clients feeling greater engagement in muscles, enhanced body awareness, and better alignment in certain postures. Sometimes, a small shift makes all the difference!
Nourishment & The Power of Good Food
Of course, no retreat is complete without incredible food, and at The Vedanta, the meals were nothing short of spectacular. We were truly nourished with an abundance of wholesome, delicious food that supported both movement and relaxation. Each meal felt like a moment to pause, connect, and refuel—exactly what was needed between sessions.
The Stunning Setting
The Vedanta itself is a breathtaking place to retreat to. Their new movement room, which opens out onto the beautiful grounds, gave us the perfect space to move, stretch, and breathe in nature’s beauty. The sunshine blessed us all weekend, allowing for peaceful walks around the lake and even moments of stillness outside, where some of the ladies soaked up the sun with a book in hand. The combination of nature, movement, and connection made the whole experience even more special.
